Malden Youth Lacrosse - End of the Season and Patriot Cup Update
We Are the Champions!!!!!!!!!!
What a way to end the 2015 Season for Malden Lax. We couldn’t have written a sweeter storybook ending with both U11's and U13's going undefeated and topping it off with both championship wins over Littleton as well as the U9’s pulling off a Championship in their Bracket. This was unprecedented in the 18 years of Malden Lax History with (3) Championships and (2) Undefeated teams this year.
Our U11’s Boys completed their Undefeated Season on Saturday in Waltham. 1st the U11 Boys continued their streak with 2 more playoff wins in the morning against Nashoba Green and Waltham White. This set up a Championship Face off between the only 2 Undefeated teams in the U11 Patriot Lacrosse league. Malden U11 vs Littleton U11 Blue. After dropping 4 goals in the 1st quarter to Littleton, Malden didn’t let this get them down. Even though Malden trailed the whole game till the end of the 4th quarter our boys kept it close. With about 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter, Malden finally took the lead over Littleton. With a 13-11 lead with 3 minutes left in the game, Littleton brought the game within 1 goal. After a couple of critical face offs Malden was able to hold possession and kill the clock to secure a well deserved Championship victory over a equally talented Littleton Blue team.
Marty Horkan’s U13 Team had its own battles at Nashoba High in Bolton. After beating equally matched Dracut Carolina and Groton-Dunstable Maroon, they moved onto play The Littleon Gold who also was Undefeated all season. Battle of the Undefeated U13’s set the stage for an amazingly close game, with the Malden Boys prevailing to capture the Patriot Lacrosse U13 Championship along with an undefeated record of 12-0 this year.
Our U15 Boys struggled in the down pouring rain. Although they fell in both Playoff games, They played with Heart from start to finish each game.
Our U9 boys struggle all season, losing many games by a margin of 1-2 goals each game, but when it mattered they turned up their game and succeeded in the playoffs winning all3 4 Playoff games to become U9 Champs. Everyone played great, everyone played their role and with only 10 players , when most teams had 15 or more kids, our boys dug deep to play 3 games in the pouring rain. 2 which went in to double OT. 1 of them being the championship game with very little left in their gas tanks we just asked them to dig deep and leave it on the field and that's exactly what they did in that last OT played with all heart and ended up scoring the winning goal with 4 seconds left...it was a complete team effort
***Jim Cahill and the Committee are extremely proud of all the boys and are in the process of putting together a gathering for all the boys to celebrate the unprecedented season and Championships that Malden Boys had. More info will be sent out once details are worked out.
Great Job to all Players, Coaches and Parents for giving us a successful Lacrosse Season.
